LoanDepot Park opened in 2012 in Miami's Little Havana neighborhood and is the only retractable-roof, air-conditioned ballpark in baseball — essential in Miami, where summer heat and afternoon thunderstorms would make open-air baseball genuinely unpleasant for several months of the season. It holds just under 37,000 fans and features a bold, colorful design including a large decorative sculpture in left field that activates when the Marlins hit a home run.
The Little Havana location puts the ballpark in one of Miami's most culturally rich neighborhoods, and Calle Ocho — SW 8th Street — is nearby with Cuban restaurants, bakeries, and a lively street scene. The stadium is accessible via Metrobus and the Citi Bike network from Brickell, though most fans drive given Miami's car-centric layout. The park has a reputation as a quiet atmosphere on most nights, but the facility itself is genuinely impressive.
