Snapdragon Stadium and SDFC hosted their Taste of Snapdragon event in anticipation of the season opener on Saturday. They highlighted foods from both new and established vendors. All well-known, local restaurants that align with their Eighteen Threads ideology. New this year are The Fish Shop, The Girls Deli, and SocCal Street Dogs & Esquites. Some of the returning ones are all fan favorites like Buona Forchetta and their delicious pizza, Crack Shack and their fried chicken, Hodad’s and their delicious burgers (My wife and I ate here most games), and Seaside Market with their World Famous Cardiff Tri-Tip (Honestly, one of my all-time favorite stadium foods).
I’m not a food critic, and I’m not going to pretend like I am, but it’s amazing to think how much absolutely delicious food is at Snapdragon. I wanted to attend the event to get an idea of what they have coming up this year and to share it with people.
They had such an amazing assortment of samples, and it didn’t even include all the vendors. There are so many different options for everybody in the family. And being all local spots, you don’t necessarily have to wait till Gameday to eat at these places, you can basically hit them up whenever you want.
Here are a few of the things I tried.
Cali BBQ
Potato bun, smoked beef brisket, BBQ sauce

The Girls Deli
Italian hoagie, ham, pepperoni, mortadella, Genoa salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onions, mustard, mayo

Cinnamon sugar dusted flour tortilla chips, marshmallow spread, chocolate sauce, mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, graham cracker

Mango, watermelon, jicama, cucumber, tajin, chamoy, fresh lime

I didn’t try much, but everything I tried was next-level good. I could definitely see myself eating these outside the stadium as well.
There were a few things I would’ve liked to try if I hadn’t already been full.
The Fish Shop
Ahi marinated in soy sauce, ginger, crushed red pepper, and sesame oil, topped with Sriracha aioli & avocado lime drizzle, served over seaweed salad with cucumber wontons.

Socal Street Dogs & Esquites
Bacon wrapped dog, seeded bun, grilled onions, mayo, mustard, ketchup, hot sauce, hot Cheetos, jalapeño
Taco Stand
Flour tortilla, braised beef, pico de Gallo, sour cream

It’s pretty amazing how great game days are in SD both on and off the field.
